Blueberry products direct from the farm

Many of you may not be aware that blueberries, like most berries with the exception of strawberries, are not traditionally grown in Uruguay. Although cultivation has been growing in the past 5 years or so, most of the production is for export and the local retail price is usually very high when compared with other fruits or produce, and when compared to other countries where their consumption is more widespread. In other words, in Uruguay berries are still something of a luxury item.

That's why the news received from new ESC member (but a known face in the Piriapolis group) Alex Graevenitz, who is having a winter sale on preserves and frozen berries to clear the stock ahead of the next harvest, sounds quite attractive.

If you wish to go over to the farm to make a purchase, they are located on KM106 of the Interbalnearia (the Montevideo-Punta del Este highway), and there are large signs proclaiming the sale of "ARANDANOS". Otherwise, they offer free deliveries in Punta del Este and Piriapolis.
